Extending the In-App Experience

Attending an event just isn’t what it used to be.

Now with the widespread use of mobile apps at events, more and more attendees are participating and being rewarded for their participation through game-based incentives – and the impact on attendee satisfaction and experience has been monumental.

Event organizers are now looking for innovative solutions to push the envelope even further. QuickMobile partner Poken offered exactly that in their latest webinar, demonstrating a 360-degree interactive experience that extends the event beyond mobile.

Poken has taken the bold step of building solutions that engage participants outside of the mobile app in new ways to create an integrated in-app and out-of-app event experience. Together these solutions are taking attendee engagement to the next level, helping to overcome some of the most common challenges faced by event organizers.

Here are 3 event challenges that are now easier to overcome with an integrated in-app and out-of-app solution:

Challenge #1: Getting attendees involved before the event begins

How do you get attendees involved when your event hasn’t even started? Your event app is a great way to get attendees excited about the event and enables them to plan their schedules and start discussing, sharing and learning before they arrive.

But if you’re like most event organizers, your event website is probably a static webpage that lists your event name, date and location along with some photos from last year. Poken has changed this with their interactive web portal, allowing you to easily integrate dynamic functionality that works in parallel with your mobile app directly into your event’s website. That means your ordinary event webpage can now be something far more memorable, fun and engaging. Participants can log in before your event to access registration for break-out sessions, matchmaking, chat groups, forums, video, galleries, social media and more.

Challenge #2: Encouraging more networking and learning

Many participants use the event app to exchange contact information, schedule meetings with one another and access important documents and materials. Poken’s unique interactive USB sticks work together with QuickMobile’s event app platform to add an intriguing twist to attendee networking and learning. The tiny intelligent hand-held devices provide a fun and easy way for attendees to tap to exchange contacts, check-in at sessions and download relevant documents from fixed or portable touchpoints that can be carried throughout the event. Once the USB sticks are plugged into a computer, the content is synched over the network and made available through QuickMobile’s event app.

Challenge #3: Motivating attendees to stay active and informed

These days most attendees know that an event app is a reliable source for the latest event information and updates. To motivate attendees even further, QuickMobile and Poken have joined forces to extend the in-app experience to Poken’s live interactive leaderboards. Picture everything you want attendees to know from your event app and from other media sources broadcasted on large screens throughout the venue, from breaking news, updates and cool videos to attendee-generated photos and achievements.

Poken’s interactive leaderboards can be used to share both motivating and highly practical information that is generated through in-app or out-of-app experiences. For example, based on real-time seating capacity, leaderboards can display tips to participants about where to head next to help avoid lineups. Leaderboards can also display updates when participants have completed activities to earn points.

Extending the in-app experience is giving event organizers more ways to motivate and educate attendees. As the range of integrated in-app and out-of-app solutions continues to broaden, events of the future will reach new heights in attendee participation and take engagement to unprecedented levels.
